Human Trafficking Investigation Leads to Indictment and Arrest of 10 Individuals

February 17, 2011
HOUSTON—A three-year investigation into the trafficking of young and minor female Mexican nationals for the purpose of compelling their service as prostitutes at Houston area bars and restaurants through force, fraud, and coercion has lead to the indictment of 10 individuals, including the owner/operators of a bar and restaurant in Houston, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno announced today.

While this is about foreign nationals, it highlights that the problem is right here in Texas in a big way, and it illustrates that it is likely that many of us unknowingly patronize legitimate businesses that utilize forced labor from trafficking victims.
